Was looking around today at panel and ran across this one. Does or has anyone tried  VestaCP  yet?

Installed this over the weekend and this site is running on it, I have to say that I like it alot, I did have to edit the file sizes in the php.ini file to allow the Database import. Other than that it worked great, and FTP is easy to setup.

Urgh. Editing files in SSH is a real pain. What sort of memory use were you getting after the base install?

I edit them on my pc and then ftp them back to the server. As for the memory it's not bad, with this site and vestacp I have less then 1 gb used.

I have used VestaCP before I liked it, I had about 6 websites on it which got a good amount of traffic each month and it was running under 1.5GB of memory which was good, thats was setup on a RackSpace Cloud with SSD!

Out of all the panels  I thought it as the easiest to install and use.

I didn't install it, RackSpace have a deployment image and I used that, but everything else I found easy to use!

No more then about 4 to 5 minutes, it's basically waiting for the software to install.

I never had the chance to install cpanel but that seems like a very long time.

Yeah lots of things to install, but if you have SSD sometimes you can get it to install quicker!

The name I agree with, but don't let that stop you from trying it though, it works really well.

Just installed this on another vps and I have to say it is so easy to get a site up and running.

We use it for one of our dev servers it works great. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a free control panel.

I love VestaCP! I have one VPS that has 10 sites running on it. Never downtime with it at all. This control panel is one that I offer to customers who need something but don't have the money for cPanel. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about it :D.

My understanding is they plan to release a commercial version of it too at some point. Not sure what the ETA is on that though. Depending on the price of it and extras are added I'd give the paid version a shot.

@Mayers  the one thing I like the most about it is that it is so easy to get a domain running on it. Just a couple little clicks and you are done.

I use VestaCP on one of my machines here at the house for various things. Pretty good control panel, I recommend it to people who have a vps or dedicated and want some basic control panel options "like cpanel" without the cost of cPanel.

VestaCP is pretty solid but I hear there is a security issue with giving users the backup option.

Also, I use WinSCP's internal editor most of the time to edit files over sftp/ftp/etc.

Yes very true. I love the fact that everything is where you expect it to be. If Softaculous could be integrated with it I think it would take over the free control panel market for sure.

If they could get Softaculous working with vestacp that would be awesome I agree.
