Safety and Security / $1000 Amazon Gift Card is a scam.

$1000 Amazon Gift Card is a scam that mimics the original Gift Card provided by Amazon.com, Inc. in attempt to steal your credentials. The scam may also steal your Amazon login information and hijack your account. It appears that there are many variants of the scam that pop up across the Internet. One of the latest is an adware that keeps showing pop-ups with the message $1000 Amazon Gift Card is reserved for you. How to differentiate the scams from the real thing and avoid being scammed

Quote from: "HumaneHosting, post: 4167, member: 1714"Exactly! Seems like businesses either reply like them (slow and forever) or state how "great" they are in a compliant. Now that how you lose yourself plenty of customers...

Businesses need to take these 100x more seriously and then maybe they will have so much better luck with keeping their customers. :)

I agree with you 100%. Once a business gets to a certain size they seem to think they can do no wrong.  They forget "The bigger they are the harder they fall"

Saga of the battery cap.

Apple wireless keyboards.

It came time to change the batteries, they were low but still working. So I got a screwdriver and tried to remove the steel cap over the battery compartment. NO go, it just would not unscrew Never in my life have I had a screw that was so resistant to being turned. I used penetrating oil=No effect, I used a hacksaw to cut a slot in the case to relieve pressure on the thread=No effect, I drilled three small holes again to relieve pressure and to make sure the penetrating oil got inside easily= No effect. The screw just would not turn. I then cut a piece of the case on the bottom away,= No effect that screw just would not turn. I had hammered the end of the screw slot = No effect. I then parted the edge of the case and poured more penetrating oil in.

Using a large screwdriver and ALL my strength it finally started to move only to stop halfway out! I could then use a large pair of grips to grab the screw around the edge and FINALLY got The screw out.

Inside the battery tube it was coated with gunk from the leaking batteries. The moral of this story is to change the batteries regularly and use some grease or vaseline etc to coat the threads of the screw so that it can easily be removed.

I manage to get the keyboard working fortunately, other wise it would be having to buy a new one.

Here is the latest email from this scammer.
A MUGU is a "fool" or "victim"

"You are not on my level, heavy weight can't find with mosquito weight, I saw all your adverts small boy, you don't know anything, that's why you fight for mugu because you take long to get mugu, but my whatsapp and email is full of mugu I need someone to help me to reply to them, and remember that I go to western union everyday, so fighting with an asshole like you will only make me feel very low, get a life mother fxxxr

The two scam websites that hostinger are refusing to remove are http://lovespells-psychic.com/  and http://greatspellcaster.com/

Hostinger seem to be saying that they have received complaints only from me, this is incorrect, if anyone else would like to send an abuse report to abuse@hostinger.com it would be appreciated.

You can see in my first post where the scammer is ADMITTING to scamming.  So there is no reason for Hostinger to allow him to scam using them as the host. The more complaints they receive the better.
Thank you .

Thank you. In recent months we have managed to get over 1,600 of this type of scammers websites closed down by responsible and  ethical hosts.
Including several belonging to the the scammer who Hostinger are refusing to suspend.
#71
Thanks I have sent in a report to the authorities and I will gradually escalate this matter.

Sorry if it is a little confusing. Yes in the past they have suspended these accounts for being scammers after complaints were made.

There are two scam accounts by one scammer that they will not suspend even though I have sent them copies of emails (along with headers) Where the scammer is ADMITTING scamming.

From the scammer (I do like 15 different scams online ) and  (right now am eating a
Nigerian pastor so far 5 million naira through Western union)

The host is allowing illegal acts (Fraud) that are illegal in the countries they operate in, after stating in their TOS that illegal acts are not allowed.

Hostinger is also allowing the scammer to use the false title of "professor" to lend false credibility to his scams and Hostinger refused to ask him to verify his title in violation of their TOS regarding registering with the correct ID.

To compound things they have deliberately lied to me stating that they had NEVER received any complaints,  yet they had previously suspended (then re instated) following complaints,  the two scam sites involved.

Plus other lies as well.  This is misrepresentation and deceptive practices from a supposedly reputable host.

Hostinger are allowing scammers to use their services to scam innocent people despite receiving ample proof they are scamming.

Hi You say "we review their activities in the most detailed manner as possible." yet you refuse to ask the scammer to prove his Id as per your Terms of service. He is falsely claiming to be a professor to lend fake credibility to his scams. You state that you do not allow sites that break the law yet it is I am sure illegal to impersonate and use false titles to commit fraud (illegal) in most countries.
ergo he is in violation of your TOS.

Here are copies of where this SCAMMER actually ADMITS to scamming

Solid PROOF that he is committing illegal acts and using Hostinger to scam on.

Just in case you missed where he ADMITS to scamming here are copies of this.
I saw all your shxt, you only know two scams, illuminati and aids healing,
come and I teach you game, I do like 15 different scams online and they all
pay me, illuminati is just for my airtime and grocery

because me am not your level, even right now am eating a
Nigerian pastor so far 5 million naira through Western union,
Fxxk you,

I build websites myself, I have more websites than you know, even
now am going to western union to get money, fxxk you.

******************************************
LIES FROM HOSTINGER.!!

"we have never received a complaint before regarding those websites." Yet you have closed them down in the past following COMPLAINTS against this scammer. Why are you lying to protect a self confessed SCAMMER ?

UK victims defrauded by fraudsters via Western Union transfers may be eligible for refund
15th January 2018

Action Fraud is contacting around 22,000 UK victims who have made a report of fraud in which they stated that the method of transfer for payments involved a money transfer via Western Union.

Who can apply for a refund?
Action Fraud and the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) were made aware of a US court ruling in respect of Western Union which may affect some victims in the UK that have previously reported to Action Fraud.

Action Fraud has confirmed that anybody in the UK who was a victim of fraud which involved making a wire transfer payment via Western Union between 1 January 2004 and 19 January 2017 may be eligible to recover some of the funds paid.

How to apply for a refund?
You can either apply online or by post until 12 February 2018.

For the latest information about the remission process:

If you want to find more detail, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has a detailed list of frequently asked questions.

Please do not contact Action Fraud, the NFIB or City of London Police as we cannot pursue a claim on your behalf.

How to protect yourself?
We believe that fraudsters may use this court settlement to commit fraud recovery fraud on victims who are not aware of all the facts.

Fraudsters are clever, so stay one step ahead by knowing what to look out for:

  • Filing a claim is free, so don't pay anyone to file a claim on your behalf. No one associated with the claims process will call to ask for your bank account or credit card number.
  • Watch out for copy-cat websites. Make sure you only apply through the official website and do not apply for a refund elsewhere.
  • You don't have to pay to get your money back or use a claims firm.
  • Action Fraud cannot claim money on your behalf.
Report fraud and cyber crime and receive a police crime reference number.

Web Hosting Chat / Hosting will get cheaper ?

Quote from: "Allan, post: 4101, member: 1"There lies the problem, customers are always looking for lowest amount out of pocket.

It would seem so. The prices will drop because of competition,  however it can only drop so far before it becomes unprofitable and then they will close down or increase their charges.
