Web Design / CSS
September 16, 2014, 12:47:00 PM
CSS makes it easy to make sweeping changes across visual elements site wide. If you want efficiency and not having to modify every little design value for each element individually then CSS is the choice to make I think on this one.

Web Hosting Chat / Those New TLD's
September 16, 2014, 12:41:08 PM
I'm seeing a ton of new TLD's popping up.

I haven't gotten any yet as it seems that many customers still default to using .com

I do have a .co domain and I do experience issues where people tell me my .com isn't loading...

I recall a situation recently where a friend was complaining that he bought a .ninja domain but his Mom was still trying to put .com behind the .ninja and didn't understand that it was just ".ninja" and not ".ninja.com"

What do you think?

Has anyone purchased one of these snazzy new TLD's? Do you like it? Do you experience user issues?

There are hundreds of them looks like, http://www.newtldlist.com/

Web Hosting Chat / How long have you been around?
September 16, 2014, 12:36:44 PM
I've been working in the hosting industry for a decade or so now, mostly as a remote tech. I have worked on site in a datacenter before for several years.

As for offering hosting, I had a server with a website in a cage at an employers (who was okay with it) for many years offering cPanel, but never gained customers as I didn't advertise or promote it as I felt that I didn't have enough experience to strike out on my own 'solo' yet.

I have a new thing now... Tho I'm still a bit of a failure when it comes to Graphics. :D

SEO & Domains / Making Money???
September 16, 2014, 11:49:13 AM
I keep reading that adsense can be a blackhole for money if you're not constantly fiddling with it.

I think we're going to focus a lot more on locals here in Austin, Texas than online advertising. When we do buy advertising it will likely be direct spots instead of a campaign thing like adsense.

General Chat / Hello/Goodbye thread

Hello Forum!

With all the streaming going on in this house we always hit caps when we wind up moving somewhere that is only able to get one provider, and that provider has caps.

General Chat / Suggest me a good movie
September 16, 2014, 11:38:44 AM
I really liked Edge of Tomorrow!

Tho this would depend on what genres you like?

Anything Sci-fi or roman/greek/knights period costume usually makes for a good movie. Try HBO's couple season "Rome" if you like sword and sandal.

Quote from: "Allan, post: 1219, member: 1"I wish I could I don't get a chance to watch any.

This is why I use multiple monitors on my desk, Have a few for work stuff and then one off to the side I stream movies and tv shows constantly. :D
